    Should you cite unpublished internal lab reports in your formal manuscript?

    Internal lab reports contain useful preliminary data but never went through peer review. Some supervisors encourage citing them; other scholars argue they should stay out of public manuscripts. Where do you draw your personal boundary?

      I only cite internal lab reports if the full data can be provided to reviewers upon request.
